Real-Time Miner Tracking
USSI provides the mining industry with a revolutionary tracking system to meet the newest Mine Safety Laws requiring continuous monitoring of miner positions. The USSI MineSafe™ System displays worker movement in real-time on a map located in the control room or mine office, making it possible to pinpoint miners’ locations in cases of emergency without the need for electrical power.
The system utilizes MSHA-approved fiber optic cable divided into location zones through the use of permanently embedded sensors within the cable. Miners carry a coded acoustic beacon that generates unique, high frequency tones which are detected by the sensing cable. As tones are detected by the fiber cable, miner locations are updated and displayed on the topside map grid display. These acoustic beacon signals can be detected even when noisy, continuous mining machines are in operation. |
