4D Permanent Monitoring

USSI has developed very low cost, all-optical downhole sensor arrays designed for permanent installation in built-for-purpose microboreholes.  The USSI downhole sensor array is designed to be permanently installed in these microboreholes (less than 2.0 inches in diameter) which are ideally located in the reservoir to provide for optimum seismic images.  Because the arrays are installed in microboreholes, there is no interruption in production. USSI's downhole sensor arrays can also be deployed in existing production wells.

The core of USSI's Seismic Sensing Arrays is our high performance, All-Optical Geophones. This small, ultra-reliable fiber optic geophone is an omni-directional sensor specifically designed for oilfield application, be it downhole, buried (for surface seismic), or on the ocean bottom. Security Monitoring and Pipeline Leak Detection

: In addition to Reservoir Monitoring, US Sensor Systems, Inc. also provides high-level pipeline monitoring for Oil and Gas Facilities, through the same revolutionary, all-in-one fiber optic sensing cable. The USSI Acoustic Monitoring System can detect unusual acoustic activity such as tampering, theft or damage to pipelines caused by construction equipment.

The USSI System can effectively detect and prevent illegal tapping of pipelines in remote area as well as access to pipeline facilities for the purpose of terrorism. The unique ability to monitor in real-time, hundreds of miles of pipeline, is a distinct advantage over conventional patrolling.

The acoustic sensitivity of the USSI System also allows for monitoring of flow leaks, which cannot be detected by conventional flow metering until substantial damage has occurred. The USSI detects acoustic energy with much greater and faster remedial action of smaller leaks before large-scale environmental damage and hazardous conditions prevail.
